Thank you for this thoughtful post. So much of it rings true for me personally. And yes, I've seen so many of my publishing friends die. Some by suicide. It's so hard to explain to younger people that there is still value in what we do every day, in bringing stories to people, in helping discover new voices. I still love book publishing. But so much of the time, I feel it has never loved me.
BTW, I wasn't suggesting for *you* to reinvent your methods as I think you've already done that. Bravo for your honest perspective sharing. I work with folks that are habituating the idea that every adversity or problem can be the floor of opportunity or the ceiling of defeat. This mantra is repeated when we get stuck. Give it three years rather than just one and see where you are. Cheers!
Wow, this is incredible. Thank you for being open about all of this!
Paul, I learned how to make it fun from you :) keep it up

Reinvent your methods of sharing about your darlings.
If you have suggestions, send 'em along!

So dope. Thanks so much for writing and sharing it!
I love this, Paul. Thank you! This is exactly what all of us - booksellers included - need right now. Keep at it. Abrazos, Cristina
